The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether differences in physical activity levels commonly adopted by individual patients with COPD in daily life compared with well-controlled laboratory environments are partly attributed to differences in the magnitude of mechanical limitation to total and compartmental (rib cage and abdominal) chest wall volumes.
