Perturbation-based gait training to improve daily life gait stability in older adults at risk of falling: protocol for the REACT randomized controlled trial

We aimed to design and test a 4-week treadmill training, with a combination of gait perturbation under dual task conditions, to maximize effects on balance and gait performance under real-life conditions.Through a randomized clinical trial, we want to investigate the added value of a high number of perturbations in the experimental group under dual-task conditions compared to treadmill training under dual-task conditions without perturbations on daily life gait, stability, balance performance, self-efficacy and falls.
