Two Perspectives on Human Mobility: Real-World and In-Clinic Assessment

Mobility in daily life and physical performance in clinical settings are closely related, yet they represent different aspects of human functioning. Daily-life mobility reflects how people move in their natural environment, while in-clinic assessments capture their capacity under standardized conditions. Both perspectives are needed for a complete picture. In fact, this dual-perspective framework was described in our 2015 publication in PLOS ONE (read here).


At McRoberts, both assessments are performed with the same DynaPort 7 sensor worn on the lower back, ensuring consistency, comparability, and ease of use.
