What it Does
MoveTest measures human mobility under standardized, controlled conditions. By capturing how people move during in-clinic tests, it provides precise, objective insights into gait and functional performance. These detailed assessments form the foundation for understanding mobility outcomes in research and clinical care.
Compared to traditional performance assessments with a stopwatch or hand-held counter, MoveTest provides a richer and more objective picture of mobility. It automatically captures detailed movement data, offering more outcomes than just total time or distance covered. Each result is fully traceable, showing how a participant achieved a specific score, while the assessment itself remains quick and easy to perform.
Overview of Instrumented Performance Tests

6-Minute Walk Test
Our Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) automatically calculates walking distance (6MWD) and relaties it to normative references. Beyond total distance, it provides detailed spatiotemporal gait parameters such as walking speed, step frequency, and step length, offering a richer, personalized view of functional performance.

Sit-to-Stand Test
The Sit-to-Stand (STS) assessment evaluates an individual’s ability to rise from a chair, a key aspect of daily living. While traditional methods capture only the total time for e.g. five chair rises, the MoveTest provides deeper insight by analyzing kinematic movement patterns. This in-depth evaluation reveals how a person performs the task, not just how fast.

GaitTest
The GaitTest provides a practical way to assess spatiotemporal gait parameters under supervised conditions. Unlike traditional lab-based setups that require large and costly equipment, the MoveTest offers a convenient and affordable alternative. The test is performed over a straight walking trajectory with a customizable distance to suit any clinical or research setting.

SwayTest
The SwayTest module of the MoveTest enables direct measurement of balance through Center of Mass accelerations and angular velocities. Unlike traditional force platforms that estimate balance indirectly via Center of Pressure displacement, this approach captures movement directly, with portable, affordable equipment that can be used in any setting.

Timed Up & Go Test
The Timed Up & Go (TUG) test reflects multiple aspects of daily mobility, from standing up to walking, turning, and sitting down again. While traditional methods record only the total time, the MoveTest captures each phase separately and analyzes trunk kinematics. This allows for a detailed evaluation of both performance and movement quality.

StairTest
The StairTest module of the MoveTest assesses stair ascent and descent, a demanding daily-life task that challenges strength, balance, and coordination. Using wearable sensors, the test captures spatiotemporal and kinematic parameters during stair negotiation, providing detailed insight into movement quality and functional mobility beyond simple timing or completion metrics.

DynaPort 7
At the heart of both MoveMonitor and MoveTest assessments is our DynaPort 7 sensor, worn comfortably on the lower back. The device combines a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (accelerometer and gyroscope), a barometer, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity, and an onboard ARM processor.
Designed for passive monitoring, the sensor operates without user interaction and can record continuously for up to 7 days without charging. This makes it ideally suited for both real-world and clinical assessments, ensuring consistent, high-quality data across MoveMonitor and MoveTest.
